Directed reading and reflection
Collaborative and research activities
Formative written assessment tasks

Self-directed activities include:

Some examples of types of activities are those which require you to:
Apply concepts or frameworks to your own situations
Apply concepts in solving problems or evaluating scenarios
Reflect on or analyse topics
Carry out further research related to topics of study Feedback will be provided for all activities. This may take the form of:
Identifying a right or wrong answer
Enabling you to compare your responses with the responses from other students
Giving examples, alerting you to key points

Self-assessment questions enable you to check your progress - by comparing your answers with sample answers; you can assess for yourself how well you met the learning outcomes for a particular section of the study material.

Option 1 - Secondary / Desktop Analysis: You can use raw data (quantitative or qualitative) that is available online, analyse it and come up with conclusions. You are allowed to collect only open-source/publicly available secondary data. You should not collect any primary data for which access permission is required; for example, you are not allowed to get raw data that a company gathered in the past for other reasons, as a gatekeeper letter is needed, and ethics are involved. You can retrieve data from reliable online sources including, but not limited to, the list provided to you. Generally, the data source must be reliable; You may be asked where you retrieved raw data from to confirm its reliability, either as part of the corresponding formative task (Week 7) or by other communication channels. In the case that you will be using raw data (for example survey-based secondary data), ensure that this data is relevant to the objectives of your work

Option 2 - In-depth Critical Literature Review Research: You can use existing secondary data, not in the form of raw data, but in the form of theory and theoretical analysis. In this case, you investigate a subject in-depth, by critically analysing existing theory (what is known, and what is not known) and reporting evidence to allow/create new conclusions. Through this approach, you can suggest the need for further primary research, as you may identify a problem/research gap that has never been analysed before by other researchers. You may even create your own conceptual framework. The existing literature must be critically reviewed, while synthesis is required and descriptive work must be avoided.
