Your client, Erin, is a swimmer who practices really well (e.g., she often hits PRs and desired times in practice), but she tends to compete poorly. After talking to Erin, you find out she feels competitions bring on a lot of pressure because she doesn't want to let herself or her coach down. She also feels like she keeps missing the mark even though she has worked really hard, which has only led to increased anxiety surrounding competition. You dig a little deeper about her performance anxiety and find out that due to Erin's cognitive anxiety, her heart rate increases, she feels shaky, and she is super tense during competitions. While her physiology is "increasing" this makes Erin's muscles tired and she feels lower energy than what she would like before a competition, which adds to her cognitive anxiety of not feeling ready.
