Navigating college

Many people look back at their years at college and think one of two things; either they relish the fact that they were able to learn and grow from their experience and gain perspective on their future career, or they regret not allowing themselves to get the full college experience. The assigned readings, and the quote above, highlight the importance of relating one's college experience outside the classroom to the experience inside the classroom. By doing so, a college-goer can significantly improve the qualitative aspect of their university experience.

Adages as old as time such as "Do what you love," and "If you do what you love, you never work a day in your life" highly support this notion of integrating interest into career choices and study paths. I am also of the opinion that an important aspect of university life is to gain experience, good and bad, so as to identify your interests. My decision regarding my own course of study, too, is rooted in experience. I think our interests and passions are ignited by experience. If you'll spend most of your time in a classroom, you might as well spend it learning about something you enjoy. Because honestly, if you're not passionate or have no genuine interest in what you've appointed your main subject of interest, what is the point?
