A solid shaft L 1.9 m long is supported between two bearings. The shaft rotates at 250 rpm. A 20 degree involute gear with PCD 312mm pitche circle diameter is keyed to the shaft at a distance of 150mm to the right of the left bearing. Two belt driven pulleys Pulley 1 and Pully 2 are located on the shaft at a distance of 500mm and 1200mm respectively to the left of right hand bearing. The diameter of Pully 1 and Pully 2 are 720mm and 586mm respectively. A power of 52Kw is supplied through the gear, out of which 60% is taken off at Pully 1 and remaining 40% from Pulley 2. The drive from Pully 1 is vertically downwards, while for Pully 2, the drive is horizontal. In both the cases, the belt ratio is 2 and the angle of overlap is 180 degrees. The factor of safety is 2.5 and Yeild strengh is 300 Mpa.1-Determine the sections where failure may occur2-Drawa-Torque diagramb-Horizontal and vertical bending moment diagramc-Resultant bending moment3-Determine the diameter of the shaft using TRESCA and Von Mises-Henky failure Develop C++ code to determine the diameter
The roof is supported by cables. If the cables exert FAB = 100N and FAC = 120N on the wall hook at A, determine the magnitude of the resultant force acting at A.
Using Newton Raphson method, solve the above equation for as a function of z. Vary z from 0.001 to 0.1 cm in increments of 0.01 cm. plot versus z.
Compare the time and cost of using the following three alternative methods for casting the concrete for the wall: 1) direct chute 2) pumped 3) crane and bucket.

Calculating electrical power from a geothermal Resource, A geothermal well is producing 9000kg/second from a hot water basin at 200 ºC [enthalpy of 800 KJ/Kg].
Determine the force in each of the members connecting joints A through F of the vaulted roof truss shown. State whether each member is in tension or compression.
Solve the problem in the image. Do it step wise in detail. This question is from book "Fracture Mechanics - An Introduction - E. Gdoutos Springer (Page 74)"
A 40 mm diameter hole is drilled 3 m deep into the steel shaft. When the two torque are applied, determine (a) the maximum shear stress in the shaft: and (b) the angle of rotation of the free end of the shaft. Use G= 83GPa for steel.
