A mercury thermometer is free of all markings. The thermometer is placed in an ice bath. When the thermometer is in equilibrium with the ice bath the position of the mercury column is marked on the glass. The thermometer is then placed in a freezer. The temperature in the freezer is 4 degrees Celsuis below zero. When the thermometer is in equilibrium with the inside of the freezer, the position of the mercury column is 0.039 m from the first mark. How far from the first mark will the column of mercury be if the thermometer is in equilibrium with boiling water? Give your answer as the magnitude of the distance in Standard SI units.
