Matrices and Determinants:

Chapter matrices and determinants will explain the idea of matrices and determinate and the rules required to apply matrices in the solution of simultaneous equations.

DETERMINE the dimensions of a given matrix.

SOLVE a given set of equations using Cramer's Rule.

In the real world, several times the solution to a problem containing a large number of variables is needed.   In both physics and electrical circuit theory, several problems will be encountered that contain multiple concurrent equations along with multiple unknowns.  These equations could be solved by using the standard approach of eliminating the variables or by one of the other methods. This can be hard & time-consuming.  To prevent this problem, and simply solve families of equations holding multiple unknowns, a type of math was developed known as Matrix theory.

Once the terminology and primary manipulations of matrices are understood, matrices can be used to readily solve large complex systems of equations.
