What is the use and function of File Transfer Protocol?

FTP :

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is the protocol used upon the Internet for sending files and is usually used for uploading / downloading files (web pages) to and through servers.

To start on an FTP session, you run the FTP client software as well as request the FTP server which you want to download files from. Then, you can acquire FTP client software through the Internet.
Two main popular illustrations of FTP clients are as: Cute FTP and Leech FTP.

The FTP daemon runs onto the FTP server. That daemon handles all FTP transactions.
