Q. Show the Functions of hydraulic jump?

The usage of hydraulic jump in hydraulic engineering isn't uncommon and creation of such jumps has numerous purposes: 

(i)  Its major aim is to perform as an energy-dissipating device to decrease the excess energy of water flows.

(ii) The jump produces significant disturbances in the form of eddies and reverse flow rollers to facilitate mixing of chemicals.

(iii)At the time of the jump formation, significant amount of air is entrained so that it helps in the aeration of streams that is polluted by bio-degradable wastes.

(iv) Itallows efficient operation of flow measuring device such as flumes.
