Reactions of Alkaline earth metals with oxygen:

Write the reactions of any two elements of group II A with oxygen.

Ans. Alkaline earth metals react with oxygen to form corresponding oxides.

2M + O2 -> 2MO (M = Alkalineearthmetals )

'Mg' reacts with oxygen to form Magnesium Oxide.

2Mg + O2 -> 2MgO

Barium reacts with oxygen to form Barium oxide.

2Ba + O2 -> 2BaO

Barium also form Barium Peroxide when burnt in excess of Oxygen.

Ba + O2 -> BaO2
