A game frequently displayed in tv police dramas. 2 partners in crime are separated into separate rooms at the police station and given an identical deal. If one implicates the opposite, he might go free whereas the opposite receives a life in jail. If neither implicates the opposite, each are given moderate sentences, and if each implicate the opposite, the sentences for each are severe. every player contains a dominant strategy to implicate the opposite, and therefore in equilibrium every receives a harsh punishment, however each would be at an advantage if every remained silent. in a very repeated or iterated prisoner's dilemma, cooperation could also be sustained through trigger methods like tit for tat.
