Question

What is main importance of geotextiles and sand in reclamation works?

Answer

For geotextiles used in recovery, they serve mainly subsequent two purposes-

(i) They divide reclamation fill from marine mud;

(ii) They might act as reinforcement to get better constancy of reclamation. Though, reinforcement function is still below heated debate because its presentation as reinforcement depends on some factors like directional strength of woven geotextiles and damage result by installation of vertical band drains.

For sand-
(i) It spreads load of future public dump on top of it;

(ii) It proceeds as drainage path for indulgence of excess pore water pressure for band drain installation.
