Difference between Vertical and Horizontal Organization

Vertical Organizations 

It is a usual approach which is typified by a functional approach to work in which departments work on tasks relevant to their certain function.

The company is organized on a hierarchical basis with managers matching tasks with suitable individuals. 

Horizontal Organizations. 

Major characteristics: 

The work is structured around a little number of business processes or work flows 

The activities of employees is linked to the requirements and capabilities of suppliers and customers increasing performance all round 

Work is completed mainly by teams
