Length-biased sampling: The bias which arises in the sampling scheme based on the visits of patient, when some individuals are more likely to be chosen than others simply because they make much frequent visits. In the screening study for cancer, for instance, the sample of cases detected is likely to contain an excess of the slow-growing cancers compared to the sample diagnosed positive because of their symptoms.
