Define BCD.

A binary code that distinguishes between 10 elements must contain at least 4 bits, but 6 combinations will remain unassigned. Numerous dissimilar codes can be obtained by arranging 4bits in 10 distinct combinations. The bit assignments most commonly used for the decimal digit is straight binary assignment listed in first 10 entries. This particular code is known as BCD.
