The soil organisms play a significant role in the life cycles of plant and animals through decomposition, synthesis and transformation, in which a group of organisms rather than a single individual is involved.  The most important reactions which the microorganisms carry out and have significant bearing on soil properties and plant growth are decomposition of organic matter and synthesis of humic substances in soil,
biological fixation of nitrogen, microbial transformation of nutrients into the mineral inorganic form and granulation of soil
