This is one of the components of today's personal computer having a capacity of order of quite a lot of Giga Bytes and above. A magnetic disk has to be mounted on a disk drive before it can be used for writing or reading of information. A disk drive comprises all electrical, mechanical and electronic components for holding one or more disks and for reading or writing of information on it.
