The open square tube is subjected to the torque T= DEF Nm as shown in Fig Q2. The tube has the length 1m and wall thickness 5mm.

a)  Calculate the shear stress and angle of twist when the 1 mm gap is open 

b)  Calculate the shear stress and angle of twist when the gap is closed by welding.
