As a part of a New Year's celebration, a boy is needed to cause a wheel adorned with sparklers to spin rapidly. To accomplish this, the boy wound a 6 m long rope around the 13 cm diameter axle of the wheel. Since the wheel and axle (moment of inertia 25 kgm^2) system was at rest at the top of the tower, once the sparklers were lit, the boy (74kg) dropped off the tower while holding the end of the wound rope and spinning the wheel as he descended.
