 Milestone Five: Proposal

Overview

For Milestone Five, you will collaborate with your classmates to identify and evaluate appropriate formats for your campaign proposal.

Throughout this module, we have been discussing various ways to format a campaign proposal document so that it creates a distinct impression on your potential client. For this milestone you will practice preparing proposal formats and receive feedback from your classmates and instructor. This will inform the final layout you select to use as you complete your final PR campaign proposal submission.

Be creative. Look beyond the content and consider the actual look and feel of the proposal. Identify the components for formatting a proposal within the PR field. Will images enhance your message? How can color be used effectively? Are there certain fonts, graphical enhancements, line spacing, or page layouts that work better than others? Find or create unique, appropriate, professional looking proposal formats that can be applied to your proposal. Analyze the effectiveness of each.

The following critical elements must be addressed specifically:

1. Three Format Examples: In a Word document, create three unique examples of possible proposal formats on three separate pages. Be creative, and use a variety of fonts, graphics, page orientation, and layouts. Consider whether to mimic your own brand or your client's brand in your document format. What other factors determine appropriateness?

2. Format Examples Analysis: For each format example, the text or content of the format example needs to explain your approach to formatting that example. Then analyze the pros and cons of the formatting you selected for that example. Consider the following questions:

a. What are the components you used for formatting your proposal?

b. How did you alter those components to create uniqueness in your proposal?

c. What factors should you consider before making alterations to the components?

3. Format Examples Critique: In your initial discussion post, compare and contrast your three formatting approaches. Why is one proposal format more effective than another? Do you have a preferred approach? Clearly identify one aspect that you would like to receive feedback and suggestions on from your classmates.

4. Feedback: Provide objective and usable feedback and suggestions to your classmates regarding their proposal formats. They should have requested specific feedback on at least one element. State that element and offer your advice with detailed support for your recommendations.

Requirements of Submission: This milestone will be submitted as an initial discussion post with an attached Word document containing at least three example proposal formats, following standard discussion requirements.
