Suppose a single crew member is collecting solid waste in a neighborhood where the average quantity of waste per collection stop is 22 kg and the average time required to service a collection stop is 0.6 minutes. The vehicle capacity is 15 m^3 and the average density of the waste in the vehicle is 390 kg/m^3. The one-way driving time between the collection route and the disposal site is 30 min, the average disposal time per load is 10 min, and the daily nonproductive time is 60 min. Use the Stone/Stearns model to determine the number of loads the worker is able to collect per day. If the labor costs are $25.00 per hour and the vehicle costs are $150.00 per day, including depreciation, what is the cost per tonne of waste collected?
