Homework 2
What are the similarities and difference between academic writing (scholarly or traditional writing) and "business" writing (or writing at work)? Discuss some aspects that each venue shares, and also how they differ. From your readings this week, think about how you use tone, vocabulary, voice, and even identify purpose in your writing at work and academic writing. Think about the perspective you use in each and how they are similar and how they are different.

Instructions: Your initial post should be at least 200 words.

This is how the homework suppose to be like from a student in my class please don't rewrite it.

Business writing and academic writing are different sometimes you may not even notice the difference because of the many similarities. Writing in a business style I'm gone argue with this quote, "Academic writing and business writing are two very different writing styles that people use whenever applicable" (Julita, 2011). The similarities are greater, it's all about what message are you wanting the audience to receive. Anytime you write you have to think about who will be reading or listening, business doesn't need extensive details and quotes it needs structure, factual information, formation and small research it has to be more of what was your experience.

"Your purpose in any communication is, first, to be understood. Depending on your audience and the occasion, you should also try, for example, to assume, to convince, to inform, to persuade, or to sympathise, that is to say, your intention should always be both, to be understood and to affect other people in a chosen way" (Barrass, 2003). If I had to write in business the reader doesn't won't to know why the chicken crossed the street instead what did the chicken accomplish after it crossed. Writing academically needs the same beware of reader, structure, fonts, styles, and the big difference is the research. Academic writing wants to know why the chicken crossed, when, what street, time, and so on, then the accomplishments followed with some quotations to back yourself up.  "Like business writing, academic writing may use different styles for different purposes" (Julita, 2011).

You can draw a picture to tell a story that's a style that has purpose, only thing that the writer is doing making certain the reader or listeners understand and you are believable. Tone is still a part of who is listening professionally you need to be serious and down to earth, academically your voice comes from what is being written, telling a funny story is usually a voice that makes you think of the story with you involved in it. Vocabulary is to be at its best during all writing styles, most important to spell correctly.

Introduction

Attention Getter: What do you want to be when you grow up? This is probably a question everyone has been asked during childhood, and can be very difficult to answer. My answer to this question was "an accountant."

Overview of Main Points:  Many people may think careers involved with accounting could be rather dull or boring, but there is more to accounting than just keeping track of numbers and the financial health of a company. Over the next few minutes, I will inform everyone on the type of businesses which need accountants, the types of career paths for accountants, and the earnings potential for accountants.

Transition:(I will first discuss where an accountant could find a job.)

 A. Each business in every state needs accountants to keep track of their finances for reporting requirements to the IRS.

Transition: (The accounting field offers a large variety of career options. One question you may have now is how much do they make?)

Main Point III. The earning potential for accountants may help provide a comfortable lifestyle.

A. Entry level accountants could start out making over $35,000 annually.
