1. Compressed air for machines and tools in a plant is generated by a central compressor receiving air at 100 kPa, 300 K, 1 kg/s and delivering it at 600 kPa to a buffer tank and a distribution pipe. After flowing through the tank and pipe, the air is at the ambient 300 K at its point of use. Assume a reversible adiabatic compressor and find the compressor exit temperature and the increase in air exergy through the compressor.

2. For the air system in the previous problem, find the increase in the air exergy from the inlet to the point of use. How much exergy was lost in the flow after the compressor exit?
