Your client wants a quick design for a system to pump on the order of 1800 gallons per day from a depth of 200 ft. You decide to use a 45-V submersible pump with an estimated efficiency of 35% along with PV modules having rated current of 5 A at a rated voltage of 16 V. The insolation is estimated to be 6 kWh/m2day in the design month. Since this is only a quick estimate, piping friction losses will be estimated at 5% of the static head. Design the PV system.

Electrical Engineering Questions & Answers

Determine the peak current during discharge

A person shuffling across a dry carpet can be approximately modeled as a charged 100-pF capacitance with one end grounded. If the person touches a grounded metallic object such as a water faucet, the capacitance is discharged

Working condition of airline baggage handlers

Who oversees the working condition of airline baggage handlers?

Summarize when and why it is important to use termination

Summarize when and why it is important to use the "50Ω"termination setting on the function generator (with thecorresponding 50Ω terminator in the circuit, of course). In which situations would this not be necessary.

Explain why it is important to choose the proper update rate

Similarly, explain what happens to a fuzzy logic controller if the controller is executed too frequently.

Determine the displacements of the nodes

For the roof truss shown in Figure, use symmetry to determine the displacements of the nodes and the stresses in each element. All elements have E = 210 GPa and A = 10 10×4 m2.

What is the total force acting on each charge

Three test charges, each with a charge of +1x10-6 C, are located at the points of an equilateral triangle. If the legs of the triangle are 10 cm long, what is the total force acting on each charge? (Assume vacuum, or dry air.)

Find the probability of encountering a white ball

A box contains 'm' white balls and 'n' black balls.Balls aredrawn at random one at a time without replacement. Find the probability of encountering a white ball by the kth draw.

Use s-domain techniques and determine the transfer function

Find the pole locations (e.g., using MATLAB), and plot the pole locations in the s-plane. Identify the angle of the complex poles in the s-plane and verify that they correspond to a 3rd-order Butterworth filter - Use Matlab to generate the Bode fr..

Determine the magnitude of the large st moment m

Knowing that the maximum allowable stress is 45 MPa, determine the magnitude of the large st moment M that can be applied to the components shown.

Elaborate the statement that an unloaded synchronous motor can be made to act as a capacitor or as an inductor.

Find the required relationships between r-l and c

Combine the impedances and find phasor current in the two circuits by using Phasor Ohm ( I= V/Z), then find voltage across each element (eg: VR = I * ZR ). Setting magnitudes equal is the same as setting the square of the magnitudes equal.

  Assume positive edge-triggering

Show a complete timing diagram for a 3-bit up/down counter that goes through the following sequence: 0, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0. Indicate when the counter is in the UP mode and when it is in the DOWN mode. Assume positive..
