Water samples were taken from a farm pond in Hanover, Kansas and analyzed for fecal coliform bacteria. 0.1 mL of water sample was initially pipetted into a 9.9 mL diluent. After mixing, 0.1 mL was removed and pipetted into another 9.9 mL diluent. 0.5 mL was then plated onto an EMB plate and incubated overnight at 37 oC. After incubation, 35 colonies arose on the plate. What was the count of CFUs per ml of the spring water?
