Quality:In statistical quality control, the Quality usually refers to some characteristics of industrial products- either raw materials, or intermediate products, or finished goods. An item is of good quality if it conforms to the specified standards. The quality may either be quantitative characteristics (i.e. variables) e.g. the length of screw, diameter of ball bearings, number of defects per price, etc. If the characteristics cannot be measured e.g. when the examined item is classified as defective or non-defective, then the quality is expressed in terms of fraction defective or the percentage of defectives a lot./p>

Control: In large scale industrial production, it is found that variations in quality are unavoidable, Large variations can of course be prevented by imposing proper checks and the control on the production process. One advantage of ensuring the absence of factors responsible for large variation in the process is that quality follows as regular statistical law.  A production process is said to be "state of control" if it is under the influence of factors responsible for small variations only.

Quality Control: The quality control is an activity which assures that goods and services can form to specified standards. This it is an assessment of quality standards in either or all three of the input transformation, or output phases of production process. The control of quality involves measurement, feedback, comparison with standards, and corrections when necessary.

Statistical Quality Control:This expression may be used to cover all uses of statistical techniques for the analysis of data that may be applied in the control of product quality. However it is often relates particularly to four separate but related techniques that constitute the most common working statistical tools in quality control. These are

a.       Schewhart control chart for variables.

b.      Schewhart control chart for fraction defectives.

c.       The schewhart control charts for number of defects per unit.
