Miscellaneous Applications. The additional application of linear programming is as follows:

(a) Form planning. In farm management there arises a typical problem which is concerned with the allocation of limited resources (e.g., acreage lab our, water supply, and working capital) in such a way as to maximize net revenue. The problem is to choose simultaneously:

(i)  The particular crops to be grown or cattle to keep during a period (ii) the acreage to be devoted to each and (ii) the particular production methods to be used.

(b) Airline routine. Because resources are limited, linear programming methods are used by a number of airlines to determine the most economic pattern and timing for flights with the view to making the most efficient use of aircraft crews and money.

(c) Administration Education and Politics have also employed linear programming to solve their problems viz. in planning political campaign strategies for allocating resources in education for making the most efficient use of aircraft crews and money.

(d) Diet Problems. The diet problem one of the earliest applications of linear programming was originally used by hospitals to determine the most economical diet for patients. Known in agricultural applications as the feed mix problem, involves specifying a food or ingredient combination that will satisfy stated nutritional requirements at a minimum cost level.
