Master Teacher of Mathematics Education

I am Orit Sheeler. Before joining NYU, I had spent the most of my career as a mathematics teacher for medium and high schools. My work has covers virtually all school settings involving urban and rural, public and private, single sex environments and religious and secular. My present work has been in Australia, Sydney and New York City Schools where I mentored teachers in core curriculum and conceptual understanding of mathematics. 

I am interested in role of visual images in assisting students learn mathematics and numerous other methods for instructing mathematics taken in use by other cultures. I did M.S. in math leadership from Bank Street College in 1994 and am presently working on PhD thesis at the University of Plymouth Centre for Teaching Mathematics in Devon, England.
