•Strengths include Engineering and Applied Sciences, Business and Management, Life and Health Sciences, Languages and Social Sciences. Aston pioneered the slot in course and was one of the first UK Universities to provide undergraduate degrees in subjects like Human Psychology, Pharmacy, Business Management, Translation, Adutiology and Optometry.
Student facilities, including library and computing
•All accommodation and most cafes, common rooms, and lecture theatres are well equipped with the wireless or fixed internet access with around 10MB download speeds.
•There are around 1,500 computer workstations on campus, some are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The library is open 24 hours a day at curtail times of the year.
Sport
•The two on-campus sports centres comprise a 25 m (yard) swimming pool, squash courts, a 100-station gym, two large sports halls, dance studios, two floodlit all-weather pitches, fitness studio and Dojo area. Facilities are only 200m or less away from all the teaching rooms and student accommodation. The main Sir Doug Ellis Sports Centre was refurbished and restored in the year 2011.
