An auto parts sales person receives a commission of 4.5% on net sales up to $10 000, 6% on the next $5 000 and 8% on any further net sales. If his gross sales for a month were $24 250 and sales returns & allowances were $855, what was his total commission for the month?

Souvenirs R Us is a gift shop in Victoria, British Columbia. Last year, 22% of its revenue came from clothing sales, 15% fromfood items, 32% from novelty items and the rest from magazines and books. This past year the business experienced a 5% increase in clothing sales, a 2% increase in food items, a 9% drop in novelty items and a 2% drop in magazine and book sales.
