This document is considered "The Bible" for Health Educators as it shows the competencies that are firmly established as the national standards for the field. All total, there are 258 sub-competencies organized into 36 competencies within seven major areas of responsibility.
For Week Four, you will focus on Area 6: Serve as a Health Education/Promotion Resource Person. Area 6 contains three competencies and several sub-competencies, which are listed in the PDF document (from 6.1 to 6.3.5).
Competencies 6.2 and 6.3 are advanced competencies; however, the first section is required for all health educators regardless of tenure in the field. In your journal this week, review competency section 6.1 and the five sub-competencies listed.

In your view, what does it mean to "serve as a resource person"? Provide at least one specific example of how you would want to "serve as a resource person."
Review various public health membership organizations that you may find online (e.g. Society for Public Health Educators, American Public Health Association). In your view, why do these organizations exist? And, if you obtained a free membership to one of these, which one would you select and why?
