First Paper (Being Human) The first paper is designed with the assumptions (1) the therapist, as an agent of change, practices with implicit notions about the following questions and (2) making these notions explicit can be a helpful in thinking about one's practice: 1. What does it mean to be human (the ontological question)? 2. How do humans know/perceive their world (the epistemological questions)? 3. How do humans decide, make choices (the ethical question)? 4. How do you account for the influences of the past, present and future? In this paper, the student is expected to answer these questions explicitly, utilizing personal life experiences/ beliefs. Additional references are welcomed but not required. Ideas from other sources should only be used to support personal beliefs/ideas. It is strongly recommended that you format your paper as direct responses to the posed questions. See attached scoring rubric. Minimum/Maximum of 6 pages, not including references.
