Consider several of your own strong beliefs concerning controversial social issues.

Note: Social issues typically prompt strong feelings and emotions. Social issues involve and impact the fabric of our society, our lives, and our lifestyles. Our culture, our background, our beliefs, and our values greatly influence our personal stance on a social issue. Social issues include such things as abortion, gun control, the death penalty, medical marijuana, gay rights, same-sex marriage, religion in schools, the right to an attorney even if you cannot afford one, etc.

This assignment is not a research paper.......you are to write about what you currently believe and why you believe what you do. What evidence did you use to reach your current state of belief. Now that you have learned more about critical reading and critical thinking, do you think the evidence you used to reach your conclusion was adequate? Now that you know more about this process, would you/will you do something differently in terms of confirming your current thoughts.

Provide the following information in a thoughtful, cohesive, well-written paper (500 word minimum).
Choose a social issue you have strong beliefs about.
State the social issue you have strong beliefs about.
Your issue should be stated in the form of a yes/no question.
Your conclusion about this issue should answer the question posed by your issue.
What kinds of evidence do you have to support such beliefs?
How adequate do you think this evidence is? Explain.


The topic of this paper will be about the increase in homeless people across the country. It needs to be heartfelt and caring. Homeless people have mental illness, drug-related problems, depression - all these things aspects can be treated with medical care, counseling, etc.
This needs to come from the heart. And from a Christian person's outlook.
