Rape continues to be a social harm directly linked to number of women, in our everyday society. Rape is commonly labeled as social issue, concern, or problem that effects all of society. This paper will explore the social phenomenon of rape, and how it is looked at as a criminal act. This paper will also concentrates on the overall sociology of rape, therefore; exploring the causes, affect, the theories of explaining the crime of rape, the fear rape causes and leaves behind, which leads to the social control of rape. Rape is not sex, but a crime of violence and aggression that not only hurts a victim for the moment, but it shatters his or her entire life. Rape is a physical attack of a male or female.
