Setting: The Great Depression and America's eventual response to it challenged the United States like it has never been tested before. The October 1929 New York Stock exchange crash, alongside various other economic downturns, sent America into an awful depression that will produce national unemployment numbers as high as 25%. President Herbert Hoover's inability to effectively cope with the hardships, alongside his inability to inspire confidence, leads to the election of democrat Franklin Roosevelt to the presidency.
1) President Herbert Hoover had an impressive resume for organizational skills (he successfully took charge of WWI relief efforts), but history has been unkind to Hoover. Would you blame President Herbert Hoover for the Great Depression? Why or why not?
2) President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal Programs attacked the Great Depression through recovery and relief efforts that took the shape of various federal bureaucracies, ex. CCC, WPA, NRA . In your opinion, Which New Deal agency was the biggest success and which one proved to be the most disappointing. Brief Paragraph with specifics. Make your case.
