What do you think about this financial reward program? Could it be structured differently in order to be more fair or effective?
In order to encourage high performance, organizations tend to use rewards to reinforce desired behaviors. At my organization we offer different types of rewards. One of them is a financial reward we call "Pay for Performance". The organization awards a yearly bonus to ALL associates that meet minimum performance requirements but only when the organization meets defined performance goals (usually between 4-10% if base pay). One of the draw backs is that everyone receives the same reward. This has created some discontent among associates that work in revenue generating departments. These associates believe they deserve more than the employees that work in the support departments. Since implementing this reward, the credit union hasn't really seen a significant uplift in productivity nor employee satisfaction.
