Photosynthesis is the conversion of light energy to chemicalenergy by autotrophic organisms (primarily plants). In the process,oxygen is released. Photosynthesis requires light, so it would notoccur in the foil-wrapped bottles. Respiration does not requirelight. Both autotrophic and heterotrophic organisms (primarilyanimals and bacteria) consume oxygen during respiration whenchemical energy is converted to forms that the living organisms usefor cellular processes. Decomposition does not require light andalso consumes oxygen.

Decomposition and Respiration both occur in the dark bottle.
