An alpha particle (doubly ionized He atom <no electrons orbiting>) is created in a vacuum in the center between our pair of Helmholtz coils horizontal (in the xy plane) and accelerated by an electrical potential of V volts. a current of 5 ampers is applied to the coils.

a) what is the magnetic field B in the center of the Helmholtz coils?

b) what would the accelerating voltage V need to be in order for the particle to travel in a circle with radius 10 cm?

c) how fast would the particle be traveling?
