In January 2014, 33 whales died off the coast of Florida. Twenty-five were found on Kice Island in Collier County. Blair Mase, a marine mammal scientist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) indicated that NOAA was carefully investigating these deaths.
