Hydrogen fluoride is a highly reactive gas. It has many industrial uses, but the most familiar property of HF is its ability to react with glass. As a result, HF is used to etch glass and frost the inner surfaces of light bulbs. Hydrogen fluoride must be stored in stainless steel containers, and aqueous solutions must be stored in plastic bottles. Hydrogen fluoride can be produced from H2 and F2:
H2(g) + F2(g)--> 2 HF(g) Keq = 115
In a particular experiment, 4.65 bar each of H2 and F2 are added to a 3.38 L flask.
a) What is the equilibrium partial pressure of H2?
b) What is the equilibrium partial pressure of F2?
c) What is the equilibrium partial pressure of HF?
The density of an unknown gas is 4.00 grams per liter at 4.00 atmospheres pressure and 127 degrees C. What is the molecular weight of the gas?
The solubility of KNO3 is 38 g/100 g H2O at 20 degrees Celsius and 1.50 times 100 g/100 g H2O at 70 degrees Celsius. A solution is prepared by mixing 45 g of KNO3 in 35 g H2O at 70 degrees Celsius. Will all of the potassium nitrate dissolve at 70 ..
