Descriptive and Numerical Questions
Question 1) For the dc network shown in Figure below, determine the following:
(i) The total resistance RT.
(ii) The total current drawn from the source.

Question 2) Estimate the voltage across the circuit element X shown in Figure below if it is a 100 k resistor by using KVL.

Question 3) For the circuit shown in Figure below, use the voltage-division principle to calculate v1, v2, and v3.

Question 4) Find the all currents and voltages in the circuit shown in Figure below. Also determine the number of branches, nodes and loops in the circuit shown in Figure below.

Question 5) Find the branch currents I1, through I3 in the circuit shown in Figure below, by using the Kirchhoff's Current law (KCL).

Question 6) A 30 V battery is used to charge four mica capacitors as shown in Figure below,
(i) Determine the equivalent capacitance with the switch "S" opened and closed.
(ii) Calculate the total charge stored by capacitors with the switch "S" close.

Question 7) Find the total inductance at the terminals a-b, for the circuit shown in Figure below.

Question 8) For the circuit shown in Figure below. Determine R, If Req = 50 ?.

Question 9) Apply Kirchoff's Voltage Law (KVL) to the network in Figure below, to find the unknown voltages va, vb and vc.

Question 10) For the transformer shown in Figure below, determine
(i) The turns ratio of the transformer
(ii) The secondary current
(iii) The voltage across the load RL = 10k
(iv) The voltage across the primary winding

Question 11) For the series magnetic circuit shown in Figure below. Determine the following:
(i) The value of current required to develop a magnetic flux of Φ = 4x10-4 Wb
(ii) The magnetomotive force
(iii) The magnetizing force
(iv) The permeability of the magnetic material and relative permeability of material.

Question 12) In the circuit shown in Figure below, shows a circuit with five elements. If P1 = -205 W, P2 = 60 W, P4 = 45 W and P5 = 30 W. Calculate the power P3 received or delivered by element 3.

Question 13) Three light bulbs are connected to 9V battery as shown in Figure below. Calculate the flowing :
(i) The total current supplied by the battery
(ii) The current through each bulb
(iii) The resistance of each bulb

Question 14) When a car has a dead battery, it can often be started by connecting the battery from another car across its terminals. The positive terminals are connected together as are the negative terminals. The connections in the circuit are shown in Figure below. The current i is 30 A.
(i) Which car has the dead battery
(ii) If this connection is maintained for 1 minute, how much energy is transferred to the dead battery.

Question 15) A stove element draws 15 A when connected to a 240-V line. How long does it take to consume 180 kJ.
