Authors Kicman and Richardson postulate that as computers continue to become more a part of our everyday lives, they are also becoming more a part of our interactions with the world around us from searching for a product or service to finding the best local restaurant. Social media platforms enable users to assess and evaluate a plethora of options and take immediate action. While these computing services model many features of the options they present, they do not necessarily model the higher-level implications and trade-offs inherent in deciding to take one action over another. It is interesting to ponder that many people reason about these trade-offs based on their own past experiences and/or intuitions. Individuals with appropriate knowledge may do well, but many others may not (Kicman & Richardson, 2015).

The question is: Do these computing devices serve to augment our decision-making abilities or do they instead diminish these abilities?
