For this assignment, you will create an action plan based on the following scenario. Since you are the fourth principal in three years to lead this school, the school board is concerned and skeptical about the school's current status and reputation. Teachers and students are not engaged. Some teachers are requesting a transfer because they believe their efforts are not recognized; therefore, the school culture and climate are "toxic" and not conducive to learning. The previous principal had a personal vision, but it was never communicated. His leadership style was perceived as a dictatorship, instead of collaboration. Overall, the teachers worked in isolation and they were not valued-conditions that resulted in poor attendance rates for the teachers and students and declining test scores.
Since it is obvious that some efforts must be implemented to improve Green Street Elementary School, the superintendent and school board agree to support your plans. The steps you will take to transform the school must be clearly illustrated in this action plan, which will be submitted to the school board. Where applicable, include references to the ISLLC Standards, your leadership style and your personality as you engage in your leadership approach. Be sure to support your work with research such as Kouzes and Posner, Covey, Senge, and Maxwell.
