Discuss the process you went through to select the appropriate data types, primary and foreign keys, and other constraints that are necessary to maintain the integrity of the database.

Create a detailed ERD using the data specifications from the logical design. Use Microsoft Visio or another tool to create this diagram.

This memo is an attempt to reduce any type of concern to your medical group by describing details and benefits of the new database by getting rid of your manual patient scheduling system to a highly refined electronic scheduling system.

The new database design will be created using Microsoft Access to eradicate or limit job loss, as well as staying in military (Federal) compliance by ensuring that patient data is secure by allowing only authorized users to access the database. This new technology would extremely benefit your medical section by utilizing the ability to interface with other databases. Dependants and military in the Kaiserslautern Military Community depend on the 86th Medical Group especially in emergency situations. This can be achieved once the process goes electronic. The database is a complex design which will allow an ample amount of data to be stored as well as lessening errors. This meticulous program is also user friendly and will provide trainers for pre and post execution. This database has the ability to control data by inserting, updating and deleting data. Deleted data that was incorrectly deleted can be retrieved if necessary. Another advantage to an electronic scheduling system is the removal of duplicated patient accounts, which can have unfavorable consequences to the company as well as the patient.

A designer has the capability of creating the database according to the infrastructure and operations. Microsoft Access can be utilized and created exclusively by key components required by your medical group protocols and standards. If standards change, the database's structure can be changed without changing the actual program, which would get rid of unnecessary personnel overtime since personnel would not need to put in so much effort to change or update programs.

A supplementary advantage of an electronic scheduling system is the ability of retrieving data to increase patient care and quality. For example, the organization has come across patient complaints onto the delay in 86th Medical Group ambulatory arrival to the patient's home. The programmer has the capability to pull reports from that particular day to research possible weather conditions, traffic, and particular employee transporter in a matter of seconds. Databases are capable of collecting a plethora of patient data to improve the organization's operations. Also, per military compliance, reports will eventually be mandatory and need to be pulled to ensure your command's compliance, as well as payment reimbursement. I look forward to a successful execution and I will continue to keep your unit updated with any information.
