Unit IV presents the build-up, explosion, and aftermath of an event that most would rank as among the most consequential in the nation's history.
The Civil War continues to be a powerful story that has never lost its appeal to the general public. Go to any bookstore today (particularly in the South) and there will be a section devoted entirely to the Civil War.
The only other topic in American History that might get as much attention is World War Two.
For this final discussion, I would ask that you answer with a minimum of one paragraph for each of the following (3) THREE questions:
1) Could the Civil War ever have been avoided? How and why?
2) Why do you think the story of the Civil War remains so popular a subject today?
3) Can you imagine a scenario in which the United States could ever again devolve into disunion and civil war?
