While conducting interviews of witnesses to any crime, the protocol and framing of the questions are crucial to getting accurate information from the witness during an interview of a cooperative witness to a murder, the investigating officer posed the following question regarding the identification of the car used by the perpetrator: “Was the car blue?”
Do you think this was an appropriate question? Why? Being a cooperative witness, should the questions posed be different than if they were questions asked of an uncooperative witness? Why?
