From a random sample we know that the average duration of unemployment in a low developed region A is 147 days (with standard deviation sA = 32 days and nA = 230 unemployed). Another random sample from a high developed region B reveals an average duration of unemployment of 96 days (with standard deviation sB = 43 days and nB = 180 unemployed). Is the duration of unemployment in region A significantly higher than in region B? Calculate also the p-value (p-Wert, empirisches Signifikanzniveau) of the test statistic.
