The viscosity of water is 1.65 lbm/h · ft at 100?F. A small capillary tube 50 ± 0.01 ft long is to be used to check this value. Calculate the maximum allowable flow rate for an inside tube diameter of 0.100 ± 0.001 in. Calculate the pressure drop for this flow rate and estimate the allowable uncertainty in the pressure drop in order that the uncertainty in the viscosity does not exceed 5 percent. Assume that the flow rate is measured within ±0.01 lbm/h.
