Participation in discussion is an integral part of the learning process in asynchronous online courses. A significant portion of the overall grade in this course is allotted to participation in the discussion (390 points). Participation in discussion will be worth 65 points per week and consists of two parts: responses to required discussion prompts targeting the primary student learning outcomes for the week and additional participation replies to other student and instructor posts to develop and build the discussion of topics.
In this course students can earn up to 30 points per week with the initial responses to the 3 mandatory discussion prompts for the week (10 points per post). The remaining 35 points are allocated to additional participation replies to other student posts and instructor discussion prompts (max 5 points per post). Additionally, to maximize points earned, you must have a total of at least 5 days with 2+ substantial posts per day. On the days when you respond to a mandatory discussion post, this means you need to have at least one additional substantial reply to another student or instructor post in the DB. On days when you do not respond to a mandatory discussion question, you will want to have at least two substantial posts as replies to student or instructor posts in the Discussion Board.
Seminar Three Discussion Prompts:
Respond to each of the following 3 Discussion prompts by posting your response in the thread for the question set established by your instructor. The initial responses to these Mandatory Discussion Prompts are due by Sunday of each week. Work to have a balanced response that includes both proper review of factual material to establish a foundation along with your own discussion, examples, and integration of the material. Ensure you provide information to credit your sources so the reader knows where you learned the information you are sharing.
