  • "to the shop and physically check the products but with the help of web application users cansee it while sitting in their homes, we support product search which is also an importantfactor in improving the business as often search leads to time when it is done physically butwith the help of web applications it is done instantly, the detailed documentation of each ofthe product is given right beside them which ensures user has a good time seeing any newproduct, we support online orders of chocolate confectionaries where user can choose theproduct of his choice and see the detailed description of it and can add it to the shopping cart, once the products needed by the user are added to shopping cart the user just need tocheckout to confirm the order. We have added Google Maps also for the convenience of usersso that he can locate himself/store very easily. Thus having all the functionalities at handcertainly improves the business of the company.-----------------------------------------------------------------Document the technologies used in this website4 HTML: HyperText Markup Language is commonly referred to as HTML, is the standardMarkup language used to create web pages. So its use in web application development ininevitable. It is written in the forms of html elements. HTML elements form building blocksof a website. It allows images and objects to be embedded into the website and also cancreate interactive forms. It can embed several scripts written in JavaScript. This technology isthe base at which the whole website is developed.CSS: Cascading Style Sheets is a style sheet language used for describing the look andformatting of a document written in Markup language. Along with HTML and JavaScript,CSS is a cornerstone technology used by most of the modern websites. We have used thistechnology to make the design of our website look attractive. The place where the products are shown, the size of the product information box etc. are all decided by CSS so using this is3 also essential for the development purpose . PHP: It is a server side scripting language designed for web development which stands for5 Hypertext Pre-processor. PHP code can simply be mixed with HTML code or some otherframeworks. It runs on sever side. Since we needed some technology with the help of whichwe can talk to the server or fetch some information like username and password match fromthe database or get relevant information about a selected product etc. we have to use some6 2 server side scripting language and PHP happens to be one and it is secure so we used it .JavaScript: It is a dynamic computer programming language which is mostly used in webprogramming. It allows client side scripting, controls the browser, communicatesasynchronously and alters the content displayed. It is also used in server side networkprogramming with runtime environment such as Node.js. But in our website development wehave only used it for client side processing of information and dynamically updating the7 document/page displayed to user .Bootstrap API: This is a free open source collection of tools for creating websites. Itcontains HTML and CSS bases design templates for typography, forms, buttons etc. as wellas JavaScript extensions. It comes with several JavaScript components in the form of jQueryplugins. For making our website look attractive we used this API. We designed our website’s8 header using this api .Google Maps API: It is desktop and mobile service application and technology provided byGoogle. It provided detailed information for travelling, locating places/restaurant etc. Wewanted users to get to know the location of shop from their current location so we used this9 API . Alternatives: For the case of alternatives we could have been used python in place of PHP,html5boilerplate instead of Bootstrap and MapBox instead of Google Maps. We used theabove technologies as we are more familiar with these technologies.-----------------------------------------------------------------Critically evaluate the design and implementationCurrently the developed website supports the requirement for the business of chocolateconfectionaries to retailers. It has browse and search option which can be used to view theproduct. It has shopping cart which can be used to save your choice of products and then theretailers can checkout to buy the products. The design of the website is easy and attractive wehave used bootstrap and css to make it look attractive. We have added Google Maps also. There could be further improvements possible for the current website for example we couldhave added a chatting platform for the users or a customer feedback form which would alsohelp in improving the business of the company. We can also add some special features like incremedor.co.uk where they offer personalised products in which a person can have his nameon the product. We can add online support for the customers if they are finding it difficult toplace an order. ----------------------------------------------------------------- References1."XHTML 1.0 Specification, Section 1: What is XHTML?".
