Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code ofConduct as well as the Psychology-Law Society’s Specialty Guidelines for ForensicPsychology are examined and studied thoroughly. The term forensic originally has been derived from theLatin word forensic which in general terms means a public discussion or debate. History hasth witnessed of forensic psychology since 16 century to the formation of first forensic schoolin the year 1909. The developments in this field are used in uncovering mysteries, solvingcrimes, and convict or exonerate suspects of crime for hundreds of years. The generalapplication in forensic psychology can be examination of physical evidence, testadministration, data interpretation, clear and concise reporting and truthful testimony of aforensic scientist (Senter, 2006). Forensic scientists may be divided into three main groups- ? Forensic Pathologists- these includes medical examiners and various other professionalswho have the responsibility of overseeing autopsies and clinical forensic examinations.? Forensic Scientists- these basically include professionals working in law enforcements,government and private firms. They are professionals in dealing with number of specifictests and analysis. ? Associated Scientists- these are the professional scientists who lend their knowledge toforensic science so as to aid investigators with every little possible details from bite marksto an insect infection on the postmortem body. I have chosen this profession because of couple of reasons. The profession ishighly paid in countries like US, UK and other countries around the world. CorrectionsPsychologist is basically specialized in studying in human behavior, and applying psychologyin prisons, jails and other correctional places. Forensic practitioners use a couple ofassessment procedures in a manner for the purposes that are appropriate in the presence ofresearch and evidence of their usefulness and proper application. This may includeassessment such as interviews,techniques, tests, instruments, and other procedures along withthe administration, scoring, smooth adaptation and interpretation of data, including coringthrough computers and online interpretations.Obviously these settings play an important andvital role in the discovery of truth. Forensic settings are maintained in order for raisingefficiency and also in order to maximize the validity for the results of assessments, variousevolutions in settings are conducted by forensic practitioners that provide and maintainsadequate comfort, safety and privacy. When forensic practitioners are in their roles as expert to the courts or tribunal, their roleis to encourage understanding of the evidence or dispute. With ethical challenges coming inthe way the truth cannot be distorted or modified. Accuracy, honesty, and truthfulness in thescience, teaching and forensic psychology practice plays a vital role. Any strive to resist thesemay result in deviation from the ideal path or may be misleading or inaccurate. Some of thechallenges could be impartiality and fairness, conflict of interests, competency issues,appreciation of group and individual differences, diligence, communication, relationships,issues with legal authorities, privacy, confidentiality and privilege, access to information, andthere are many more (Folsom, 2010).These challenges can be countered by using ofappropriate methods, focusing on legally relevant methods, proper selection and use ofassessment procedures, appreciation of individual differences, provision of documentation,record keeping, and proper communication among team members, being confidential whererequired by the system and not making wrong use of the privileges."
